Stimulant-free support for long workouts and races

Anti-Fatigue Caps is made for the late stage of long efforts, without caffeine or other stimulants. It contains magnesium and potassium aspartates and OKG (ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate), which we chose to target the ammonia that builds up during exercise. Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal muscle function. Vegan, gluten-free, 90 capsules.

Anti-Fatigue Caps is also part of the Race PR Kit.

BENEFITS

Stimulant-free support for long workouts and races

Plenty of athletes know that “heavy legs” feeling in the second half of a long effort: holding your pace gets harder, and you feel mentally more tired, too. In our experience, one of the reasons is that during prolonged exercise ammonia builds up in the body as a by-product of protein and amino acid metabolism.

Anti-Fatigue Caps is made for exactly this late stage, without stimulants. It’s built on two ingredients: magnesium and potassium aspartates, and OKG (ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate) – we chose both to target ammonia metabolism and the energy-producing processes of your cells.

  • Magnesium and potassium aspartates: 100 mg of magnesium and 140 mg of potassium per 4 capsules, bound to aspartic acid.
  • OKG: 700 mg of ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate per 4 capsules.
  • Stimulant-free: no caffeine, so you can use it before an evening workout or if you’re sensitive to caffeine.
  • Clean formula: vegan, gluten-free, kosher.

Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal muscle function. Potassium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal muscle function.

Who is it for?

Marathon runners, ultrarunners, trail runners, cyclists, triathletes and all endurance athletes – primarily for workouts and races lasting several hours. Anti-Fatigue Caps doesn’t provide energy, fluid or full-spectrum electrolyte replacement: for those, rely on Hammer Gel, HEED or Perpetuem, and Endurolytes.

Anti-Fatigue Caps is also part of the Race PR Kit, alongside Race Day Boost and Energy Surge.

ANTI-FATIGUE CAPS FAQS

What’s the difference between Energy Surge and Anti-Fatigue Caps?

Energy Surge contains ATP (adenosine 5’-triphosphate) – the main energy storage and transfer molecule of your cells. It’s a “when you need it” product with no fixed dosing schedule. You can take 1–2 tablets right before a workout or race, then every hour, or before a particularly tough section (a long climb, for example). In our experience, it delivers the most in the later part of an effort, when your body’s own ATP production is already declining.

Anti-Fatigue Caps is something quite different: it contains two ingredients – potassium/magnesium aspartates and OKG – which we chose to target the ammonia that builds up during exercise. We consider ammonia one of the main causes of early fatigue.

The two products combine well: they’re paired together in the Race PR Kit, too.

What’s the difference between Anti-Fatigue Caps and Endurance BCAA+? Can I take them together?

Yes, you can safely take them together – they complement each other well.

Anti-Fatigue Caps targets ammonia metabolism with potassium/magnesium aspartates and OKG. OKG is a compound of ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate: ornithine takes part in the urea cycle (the pathway your body uses to detoxify ammonia), and alpha-ketoglutarate is an intermediate of your cells’ energy-producing cycle.

Endurance BCAA+ provides branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, valine), complemented by L-alanine and reduced glutathione. During long efforts your body covers a small part of its energy needs from amino acids; the aim of BCAA supplementation is to spare your muscle tissue proteins from being broken down for this.

Take both products 20–30 minutes before your workout, then every hour during longer efforts – you’ll find the exact dosing on each product’s page.

Can I take Anti-Fatigue Caps together with Endurolytes?

Yes. Anti-Fatigue Caps combines well with all Endurolytes products – Endurolytes, Endurolytes Extreme, Endurolytes Fizz – and with the other Hammer Nutrition products. Its magnesium and potassium content doesn’t replace full-spectrum electrolyte replenishment, so in the heat and during long efforts you’ll still need Endurolytes.

Does it contain caffeine or any other stimulant?

No. Anti-Fatigue Caps is stimulant-free, so you can use it before a late-evening workout or race, or if you’re sensitive to caffeine, and it adds nothing to the caffeine you get from other sources (a caffeinated gel, for example).

Why is the capsule content red?

The capsules contain a small amount of beet root juice powder. It’s there purely for colour, so you can easily tell Anti-Fatigue Caps apart from the similar-looking Endurolytes capsules – for example, if you carry both in the same capsule dispenser.

Are Hammer Nutrition supplements tested by an independent laboratory?

Yes. Our supplements are manufactured in accordance with US dietary supplement manufacturing regulations (21 CFR 111): every raw material used is tested for purity, potency, identity and integrity, and they are checked at every stage of production – blending, encapsulation, packaging materials, finished product – before they go on sale.

What does MFG on the packaging mean?

MFG is the manufacture date. The product keeps its quality for 4 years from the manufacture date if you store it in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and excessive heat. After opening, always close the lid tightly and use within 6 months.

HOW TO USE

Dosage

  • Before a workout or race: 2–4 capsules 20–30 minutes before the start. That’s 50–100 mg of magnesium, 70–140 mg of potassium and 350–700 mg of OKG.
  • During longer efforts: an additional 1–2 capsules every hour from the second hour onward.

Good to know

  • Recommended primarily for workouts and races lasting longer than 2 hours.
  • Your individual needs also depend on the length and intensity of the effort and on your experience – try your chosen dosage in training first, not on race day.
  • Anti-Fatigue Caps doesn’t replace energy, fluid and electrolyte replenishment – take care of those separately.

INGREDIENT BREAKDOWN
  • Magnesium and potassium aspartates – magnesium and potassium bound to aspartic acid. Aspartate is involved in metabolic processes linked to the cells’ energy-producing cycle (the malate–aspartate shuttle, oxaloacetate formation). Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to normal muscle function; potassium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal muscle function.
  • OKG (ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate) – a compound of the amino acid L-ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate. Ornithine takes part in the urea cycle, in which the body detoxifies the ammonia produced during protein metabolism; alpha-ketoglutarate is an intermediate of the citric acid cycle that can be converted into glutamate and then glutamine by taking up an amino group. That’s why we chose it: this way it contributes to the body’s glutamine pool without generating ammonia.
  • Beet root juice powder – used for colour only, so the capsule content can be told apart from Endurolytes.

Other ingredients: vegetable capsule (plant cellulose, water), organic rice hull, organic rice bran.

Anti-Fatigue Caps is neither an electrolyte replacement nor a stimulant: it’s a stimulant-free supplement for long workouts and races.
