The only protein source in Hammer Whey Protein is whey protein isolate from the milk of grass-fed, US-raised cows that are free of hormones and antibiotics. One serving provides 15 g of protein and 6 g of added L-glutamine, with no fat and no added sugar – so it's an easy way to top up your protein intake after training, during the day or before bed.
Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of muscle mass, as well as to the maintenance of normal bones.
For strength trainers, runners, cyclists, triathletes and anyone who finds it hard to reach their target protein intake from food alone. After a longer endurance workout you need carbohydrates as well as protein – that's when Recoverite, which combines carbohydrates and protein, is the better choice.
One serving (1 scoop) of Whey Protein contains 15 g of whey protein isolate and 6 g of L-glutamine, with hardly any carbohydrate (0–1.5 g). It's a good choice after a pure strength workout, during the day to top up your protein intake, or before bed.
One serving (2 scoops) of Recoverite contains 10 g of the same whey protein isolate and 3 g of L-glutamine, plus more than 30 g of complex carbohydrates. After an endurance workout, your body also needs carbohydrates to refill its glycogen stores – that's when we recommend Recoverite.
Other protein powders may contain more protein per serving, but often from a blend of whey protein concentrate and casein. We use whey protein isolate only, and we add 6 g of L-glutamine to every serving. You can adjust the amount to your own needs: your total daily protein intake is best tailored to your body weight, diet and training load.
Because it isn't needed: whey protein isolate is naturally rich in all nine essential amino acids, including the three branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, valine). One scoop of Whey Protein contains about 1.5 g of leucine.
Amino acid content of the whey protein isolate in one scoop of Whey Protein, in milligrams:
On top of this, we add 6,000 mg of L-glutamine to every scoop.
Whey protein concentrate can range from 35% to 80% protein, so it may also contain significant amounts of lactose and fat. Isolate goes through additional filtration steps that remove almost all of the lactose and fat, giving a protein content of at least 90%. That's why we use isolate in Recoverite and Whey Protein.
Whey protein isolate is very low in lactose (the raw material is about 99% lactose-free), so many lactose-intolerant athletes tolerate it well – but this varies from person to person. The product contains milk and is not suitable if you have a milk protein allergy. If you're looking for a dairy-free option, Plant Protein and Vegan Recoverite are plant-based.
Yes. The enzymes used to curdle the milk and separate the whey are not of animal origin – they are produced microbially. The product contains milk, so it isn't vegan, but it is vegetarian.
One level scoop is about 53 cm³, which is roughly 3 tablespoons + 1¾ teaspoons of powder.
Yes. The manufacturer requires an independent laboratory certificate of analysis from every raw material supplier, covering microbial contamination, heavy metals, solvents and pesticide residues, among other things. Hammer Whey Protein is made in an Informed Choice registered facility.
Mix 1 level scoop of powder with 250–500 ml of water. You can also stir it into smoothies, porridge or pancake batter if you want more protein in your food.
After a longer endurance workout, we recommend Recoverite instead, as it also contains carbohydrates.
You'll find the exact ingredient list and allergen information for each flavour in the Nutritional Information tab.
